Our AIARE 2 course toured up to an area above Big Trees in Pineapple Basin to conduct snow pit practice. Our group dug five total pits and observed the 2/14 crust (1F - P) approx. 30 cm down and the Early Feb Crust 40-45 (P - K) cm down. 4 of the snow pits had CTM on the 2/14 crust while one had CTX. One ECT conducted did not have propagation across the 2/14 crust. Skiing back down to the lot consisted of mostly thick, moist snow.
