The day was a lot wet and warmer than we thought it was going to be. We took the east trail up to Red Top/Teanaway Ridge trail, then went north to Pt 5335. Snow was extremely manky, sticky, and heavy. It kept on balling up under the lifters on our snowshoes. It was raining under the trees from the snowmelt and was not stable after 11:30, until we got to the ridge. Triggered a D1.5 sized rollerball (2’ diameter) by just stepping on the interface directly below the storm snow. BTL snow was not really safe either since the water hadn’t permeated the layers (it was upside down; exhibited wet-slab/wet loose like characteristics. All in all a very tough day of trail breaking. We avoided traveling up steep slopes or along/under them.
