Quick report
No obvious signs of instability. There were some wind scoured and some wind loaded pockets. In the location that I dug a quick pit there were about 15 inches of snow above the rock hard base layer. Weather on Saturday was sunny and cold with temps in the teens. Winds were light with occasional gusts probably less than 15 mph. I did not observe any snow transported by wind. A shovel sheer test broke at 15 inches down, just above the older rock hard layer. Tap test on an isolated culumn produced some smashing of the top 5 inches after 10 hand taps. Elbow and shoulder taps did not produce results besides more smashingof top layer. Ski penetration was 4-5 inches. Small test slopes did not produce any results. I travelled fairly cautiously and stuck to low angle slopes since I prefer to build up to steeper and larger terrain. Overall impression of stability in that location was better than expected.
