Quick report

TL;DR: variable terrain between top of Palmer & DK - either wind buffed snow or scoured ice. Then supportive, packed powder with a thin, breakable crust above DK to summit. ⚠️ Keep an eye out for thin coverage in small spots when entering the kitchen. Crevasse is opening up on skier’s right for West Crater descent. Started at 6 am. Easy skinning conditions - some sections were firm and my skins slid occasionally. Put on the ski ‘pons top of Palmer. Started A-framing below DK since the wind was ridiculous. Be careful with thin areas when entering the kitchen. The bergschrund, to the right of the hot rocks, is opening up. Saw a crevasse on skier’s right on the West Crater descent. Lovely bootpack entering Old Chute, 1 o’clock and 2 o’clock that made for easy climbing and plunge stepping when descending. Catwalk from top of Old Chute to summit is in, supportive, and no sketchy ice steps.
