Quick report
Hiked up Wallman to the Stuart S Ridge. Found consistent snowline around 6000'. Snowpack had supportable crust with ~1-3" of new snow from 4/12 snow event and about all aspects, and the snowpack start and the rain/snow line seemed to matched up perfectly. Observed refrozen wet-loose debris on some South and South-adjacent aspects. New snow was bonded well to underling crust, and heaviness of new snow seemed to have limited transport and subsequent wind slabs from 4/12's W wind. W slopes were feeling touchier (and proved difficult to climb) under the afternoon sun, but the limited new snow and SW wind kept hazard feeling minimal. Observed no point releases, rollerballs or slides. Stuart N bowl skied decent, with the new snow on top of the underlying crust being mostly supportive but edgeable. Skied better than it sounded. Also skied Eagle couloir. Found even more blown in snow, but as the 2nd party, the choke was slipped out and very icy and puckering. Lower run was better. Snowpack in couloir did exhibit dry-crust-dry layering mentioned earlier this week in Bitterroot skiing, something to be on the lookout for with new snow.
