Quick report
(1) Overall, no gross instabilities noted in the alpine during ACTUAL travel. No whumpfing, no cracking, or collapsing noted throughout travel. (2) Intentionally triggered an avalanche via cornice drop at on a windloaded North facing slope at ~7500ft. This assessment was conducted in a remote location with no other parties around. This avalanche did entrain snow, but there was not a clean bed surface in which it slide on. HS 155cm at this location. Failed at 25cm down.. Please see snowprofile for hasty pit conducted adjacent to this slide. CT14 SC @ 25 down, and ECTN 18 @ 25cm down (same interface as crown). (3) Coverage on South and West facing slopes above 7,500ft is still minimal. Although the snow is dry, there are several rocks hard at lurk just beneath the surface. Several measurements measured HS at <45cm on southern aspects above 7000ft. (4) Slight loose-wet activity (~4-5cm) noted on on top of solar crusts above 7500ft in the afternoon as direct exposure to the sun began to take its toll. (5) Other than coverage, and potential instabilities, snow quality and skiing above 6500ft is good- just a lot of BS to access (Note: Only safer, lower-angled, and non-windloaded terrain was skied after cornice drop. So no assessments of related to actual skiing in Northern Facing AND windloaded terrain). Skiing from ~6500ft to ~5500ft is still kinda fun and manageable, but begins to get heavier at lower elevations. Skiing below 5500ft feet (as least on Northern aspects) is arduous to say the least. I've skied worse, but the crust combined with a multitude of obstacles remaining exposed make for an interesting decent.
