Quick report

Snowshoes were the order of the day and they worked out well. Upper elevations might have held some passable skiing, but it was a crust-fest below. Inverted conditions had murk down low and nice views above a shimmering cloudsea up high. Plenty of smaller surface hoar 4-5', but more notable was the decomposition of the crust atop which the surface hoar sat. Were it to be loaded, it'd be a notable layer of concern. December sunshine did attenuate the surface facets to an extent, especially in direct sun, but even partial sun wasn't enough to melt it away. Beautiful day in the hills.

Avalanche

Smaller loose-wet slides, perhaps a day or two old, emanating from below rock-bands on several aspects. Depth 15-30 cm?
