Quick report
We observed generally stable conditions while out on a few day long ski traverse. We hiked and skied all aspects from 6900’ up to over 10k’. There were surficial refreezes each night from Wednesday onward that broke down between 11 AM and 3 PM, depending on aspect. We found a handful of isothermic pockets of snow during our tour, and these were limited to <8500’ elevations immediately following tremendous heat and a hint of greenhousing. Winds in the alpine were generally calm and temperatures were quite pleasant - if not hot - each day. On Friday night we received a trace of new snow that came in wet and sloppy above 9000’. There was evidence of semi-recent natural wet loose avalanche activity above 9000’, assumed to have occurred in the last week given the color of the debris, but this was primarily relegated to steep S, SW and W aspects with nearby rock features (or cornice fall driven).
Avalanche
We triggered a few very small wet loose avalanches on a steep NE slope at 9200’ at approximately 3pm on Friday (during the heat of the day). These entrained the top ~4” of snow and moved downhill predictably.
