Quick report
Deep soft snowpack that is dangerous with buried weak layers that may persist, but may heal slowly, that traveled well. Travel wouldn’t have been possible if the warmer temps hadn’t aided settlement. Visibility was difficult and more so at times when snowing hard through the day. We traveled cautiously near steep terrain, avoiding slopes stepper than 35 degrees or in big terrain with consequence. We got propagation in our extended column test on the old snow interface from our long blue bird dry spell of cold temps. This failed after stubborn results-ECTP15…CT14SC We saw a few recent natural avalanches on steep slopes: one on West, the others on North aspects.
