The weather was clear and winds were at about 40-50mph on the ridge but lighter when in protected areas within the ravine. Evidence of roller balls and point release debris within all runs and aspects in tuckerman ravine.
Avalanche
Location: Lobster claw a S facing aspect, topped out at 5100' @ about 1530 On my second turn I triggered a loose wet slide that ran the entirety of the run almost down to the floor of the ravine. While booting up the gully I noticed that if I french stepped and didn't have my toes pointing straight into the slope the bootpack would fail down to bed surface and I would slip a little. Its because of this and the fact that no one had skied it yet ( after a decent snowfall in the days prior ) that I was anticipating slide activity. I dropped in on the skiers left side of the gully and made two careful turns. On my second turn alot of snow got going and then continued to gain momentum down the slope. Given that I was on the side of the run I was able to easily stay out of it and stop off to the side. Given that it was almost as wide as the slope and ran the entirety of the run I'm sizing this at the lower end of D2 more like D1.5 ( there was two fetch spots within the path that could have easily buried a person) and for size R3 ( medium, relative to path) the slide ran approx 700'
