Quick report
At lower elevations and more solar aspects, I have been observing a progressively drying and faceting layer near the 1/3 crust. At 3,700’ and on various south and southeast aspects there is a 2-3cm thick layer of soft (4F) and medium-sized (~1mm) faceted grains down ~40cm and immediately above the 1/3 crust. No notable results in mechanical tests and overlying slab is very strong (p+, MFcr). Several CTH, RP and PST 95/100 (end) Observed a similar structure at Hyak yesterday (SW, 3,500’).
