Quick report
Sunny jaunt to the Katwalk. Snow on the trail in the open above 4k, consistently snowy above the lower slide-path crossing. Microspikes and poles advised. Use caution on the trail's upper reaches for rollerballs and sluffs coming down from above -- a tiny slide can be troublesome at the trail's most-exposed points. W-slope talus was partially-covered. Upper/steeper W, NW, N slopes held snow. Solar input was considerable, with rollerballs turning to pinwheels to 60-90cm beginning noon-1pm. Snowpack: Upper elevations held small-grained soft/wet facets near the ground, a pencil-hard mid-pack crust, and soft snow above. Total HS up to ~60-70cm. See photos for a hand-profile on the shadiest slopes. Shadiest open slopes still held dry snow. Avalanche: Plenty of rollerballs on steeper slopes from Saturday. A new round was beginning in early-afternoon Sunday. Snowballs easily became pinwheels on any sunny slopes with enough snow to roll. No slabs noted anywhere today.
