A half inch thick rain crust exists ubiquitously across snowy surfaces with an inch of snow on top. The crust is suspended above a foot and a half of consolidated snow before hitting bare ground. Sun popped out above 2,500’ so it’s possible that surfaces exposed to solar impacts may have developed a secondary crust or possibly melded with the rain crust. Skiing down was tricky…
