Some thin clouds with mostly sunny skies and warming temperatures into the afternoon. NE winds were light at our location.
Snowpack
We went up the far East Ridge of Tamarack Peak today to look at snowpack conditions. This area has been heavily used over the previous multiple weeks of dry weather with it being one of the few places with some usable snow. Firm snow surfaces exist on trails and where tracks have refrozen with little areas of undisturbed snow available. In wind exposed areas along the ridge , the previous East winds have scoured surfaces with raised tracks in some areas. In more protected areas, the snowpack is made up of weak faceted snow on top of a firm rain crust on the ground. This faceted snow is expected to continue to weaken over the next week or so with a clear and dry forecast and will be a concern when we do get a substantial storm to our area. N-NE aspects hold the most snow above 8500-9000' with aspects receiving sun melting out or already dirt.
