Quick report
- Cracking
- isolated
Widespread surface hoar .5-2.5mm developing in meadows and on cold and/or shady terrain. Snow significantly weakened overnight, making for better skiing conditions, but also making obstacles much easier to hit. Tiny natural cornice failures and/or wind slab debris seen along the west facing ridgeline of Thunder Saddle. While cutting a switchback up to the saddle in steep terrain, the snow cracked to connect down to the lower track, an indeterminate depth. Stomping on this crack didn't cause any further propagation, though a very small wind slab separated from the snowpack. By 10am solar aspects were becoming wet.
