Snowshoed up Flatiron today to check out the snow conditions after the recent rain event. We found a dusting of wet snow on the trees around 1250m and about 2cm of snow on a mostly unbreakable crust at 1500m. Higher on the ridge the snow was wind-affected, with some areas crusty and some small wind slabs forming. The crust made for fast travel on snowshoes and we didn't observe any signs of instability, but we stayed mostly in simple terrain and on well-supported slopes. Snow in direct sun was getting wet and heavy in the afternoon. I imagine the skiing would have been terrible.
Very warm, 1-3C at Zopkios brake check (1200m), felt like just below zero at the summit of Flatiron (1800m-ish). Wind picked up from the east around 2pm.
