Quick Observation

Spent 2 nights and 3 days in the Garibaldi Lake and Taylor Meadows areas. Upon arriving on January 6th there was evidence of a natural storm slab cycle from the previous day / overnight. At 1500m the snowpack was quite thin - only about 125cms in sheltered areas. We dug a test profile near Garibaldi Lake and found about 50cms of moist storm snow sitting on the late December rain crust which was 20 cms thick where we dug. Near the base of the snowpack we found the late November crust with facets above and below. This layer produced moderate deep tap test results. We received about 20 cms of snow over the three days spent in the area, and daytime temps maxed out at 0 degrees each day. Visibility was poor and we didn't get any alpine or TL observations.
