Went up to the Telkwa Pass, didn’t get into the alpine, spent most of the time breaking trail, and fighting alder. The creeks that seem to never freeze were running. Snowing S-1 throughout the day with sunny breaks, and strong SW wind all day. HS 125-110, looked like top 40cm sitting on a post Xmas surface hoar layer, next 40 cm on pre Xmas surface hoar layer, next 20cm on a rain crust, and last 20cm to ground facets breaking down to wet rounds. Overall the bottom third of the snowpack is rotten and baseless. As soon as you break through the top supportive part of the snowpack you go right to ground. Quick shovel and hand tests were hard and failing on pre Xmas, and at ground. Quick profile was at 800m near milk creek.
