Mcdermott

Just got out from 4 days at McDermott Cabin. It snowed Tuesday night and all day Wednesday dropping 20-30 cm of very low density snow over soft old snow. Then got windy Wednesday night and cleared Thursday. We triggered several small storm slabs on steep rolls and had to manage deep loose drys. When visibility cleared on Thursday we could see lots of small avalanches at treeline and above, with two Size 2 storm slabs from open features (see photo) Wind slabs at ridge top were very hard and ruined the riding anywhere that was affected. We didn't see it cracking but we avoided it too. It was cold, but the snow was blower!
