We ran it back in the Big Y today with two goals: find good snow on the north side of the valley and don't fall into creek holes. Great success. The slopes and chutes feeding into the Big Y are holding boot-deep powder and delivered some great turns.
There’s hard wind slab along the ridgetops, but it quickly softens once you drop into the lee slopes. We ski-cut our lines before committing, which helped confirm that the slab was stiff and locked in. Still keeping a close eye on the surface hoar layer buried ~10–30 cm down, along with deeper instabilities in thinner snow and rocky areas.
And yes—we even got some sun. Big thanks to everyone who appealed to the sun gods on our behalf ☀️ Have a great weekend out there 🤙
