3 day Wapta via Bow staying at Balfour and SD. Had an early start for travel to Bow hut. Bow Lake frozen. Travel through canyon good, but will deteriorate with warm weather; ski crampons used in spots.
Ascended up East side of St. Nick and skiied to the top of Vulture Peak. Best ski run of the trip from Vulture Peak to Balfour Hut.
Crevasses well bridged and easy to avoid seracs skiing up to Balfour High Col. Skiied to top of Mount Lilliput; some of our party found ski crampons helpful. Ski down from Lilliput was horrendous with wind hammered, wave like snow. Skiied to the top of Daly NE Outlier; ski down was also pretty rough on wind hammered snow.
Travel on glacier was excellent with good visibility, coverage and stability.
Left SD around 830 and conditions were pretty solid down to the creek. Creek was open but easy to manage. Sherbrook Lake frozen solid. Saw one avalanche in steep, rocky terrain and heard a couple more. Exit from Sherbrook Lake is deteriorating quickly with downed trees and spotty coverage.
