First time riding Parker Ridge. Temperature was -5C at the parking lot. Wind was virtually non-existent besides a brief blowup around 1330 that lasted a half hour. The saddle and ridgeline are very windswept and icy but the NNE slope and gulley have been in the lee of the prevailing SW winds so had some decent powder. Saw the slide remnants of mostly surface sluff further N along the ridge, which we steered clear of. Anything on the S face is scoured. Overall great day.
We dug a single pit on the NE aspect of a snow-loaded, ~40-degree angled face around 12 p.m. Weather conditions: semi-overcast, -2C, no wind. CTVE7, down 5cm atop a 10cm light powder layer. We found a 2cm crust layer about 30cm down.
