Beware of cornices!

Most noteable observation today was a very recent natural avalanche triggered by a cornice failure. We observed the avalanche debris on a steep East aspect in a hanging valley above Bryant Lake. Size 3 avalanche with (smart)car size chunks of debris. Ran from a ridge at 1700m full path to 1400m elevation, 25-40m wide. A clear reminder to give cornices a wide berth right now. Oh, snow quality for riding - its "ok", snow is wind-affected, but not terrible riding.
