Hollyburn

davidgblack1, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

Skied 1 lap of Hollyburn. Extremely dense cement snow. On the bottom third of the skin up, the trees were dripping water and periodically dropping huge loads of snow. Definitely above 0C. Wet, sticky snow. The top 2/3 were cold enough that a crust had formed on the cement. Essentially zero ski pen. Nice views though. We initially avoided anything steep, open, or convex, but then repeatedly violently ski cut any steep little convexity we could find with no results whatsoever. Did not see any signs of slabs or avalanches, nor could we get anything to move at all. Perhaps the warm temps in the trees have cemented everything together?
