Spent the last two days at Shark skiing north facing terrain. The mid pack in the area has gained strength and was sportive to skiing but 60cm boot pen at 2100m. The top 10 cm consisted of faceted grains with isolated 2-3mm surface hoar on protected north face sheltered terrain at 2250m. I got the top 10cm of faceted snow to slough in steep 35-40 degree slopes at 2350m.
Yesterday the winds picked up mid afternoon out of the north which created wind slabs on open north facing slopes. We didn't find these slabs to be reactive but did degrade the ski quality.
Not much avalanche activity in the area over the last couple weeks.
