Cream Cheese with your Cinnamon Buns

Lizard Range and Flathead

southrockies , Thursday 4th April, 2019 5:00PM

The key to good skiing was staying ahead of your cinnamon bun rolls today. We found some fun conditions: Cream cheesy consistency snow on north to easterly facing slopes between 2100m and 1900m. We didnt try any south or west aspects today but suspect they wouldn't have been as good and likely had a higher potential to entrain more snow, creating loose wet avalanches. It was a warm day even though it was mostly cloudy, with temperatures at treeline reaching 3.5C in the afternoon. Still lots of snow left ; 180cm at 2000m!

Snow conditions were: Heavy. Weather conditions were: Warm, Cloudy. We rode: Steep slopes, Open trees. Riding quality was good.

Avalache Conditions: Rapid temperature rise to near zero degrees or wet surface snow.
