I’ve been installing weather stations in Northern BC for the last week and am honestly a bit out of touch with the local snowpack. That being said, I was out for a day of personal skiing today and the upper meter of the snowpack is a mess. We encountered touchy storm slabs 20 to 50 cm in depth on north facing features at treeline that produced a humbling amount of debris. One skier triggered avalanche actually stepped down to the crust. We kept travel conservative and had a great day, but it’s game time out there and the hazard is real.
