Northwest Coastal

Observed surface hoar growing in valley bottom. Overall, hand shears are gaining strength on the Dec 7 crust since x-mas, good to see. 11am sun caused trees to shed snow rapidly all around us as we climbed no dogs. 8 to 10 cm fresh filling in Saturday's ski tracks. Minimal wind all day. Shaded or indirect slopes had minimal to no solar impact. S and SE firmed up a bit from the sun but still great skiing. No signs of instability during our day. Saw 1 instance of an 8cm thk crown that stepped out from someone's tracks from sunday on a convex roll. Propagated a couple meters (5+} which was interesting for the tiny size of it. Fantastic day with fresh tracks to valley bottom, & down Cats, & down from Emotional blackmail ridge to bottom in the gullies west of cats, and again down No Dogs. Too bad Sternwheeler had not been groomed yet but it too skied well. Valley fog was pea soup thick at lodge by end of day.
