Just got back from a 5 day trip up to jumbo. Went in Wednesday the 6th, rough conditions on the Toby creek road up to the 14km mark. Sled was good minus the 30min spent cutting through fresh wet loose avy debris on the jumbo road.
Skin up to the hut involved difficult breaking. Rewarded with excellent skiing up high. We observed that 80cm had fallen in the last storm cycle.
@2300 meters, north/east aspect had HS 125cm. CT 23 sudden planar 80cm down on the surface hoar. Observed cracks and settlements on the day in but as it cooled off through to Sunday everything locked in place and skiing well and had good stability. Did observe a size 3 avy, north bowl aspect that stepped down to ground due to cornice failure.
Otherwise fantastic first trip of the year. Ps Toby creek road is not plowed which made for a spicy drive out.
