Brooks

Up and over Brooks- up via S ridge, down via N ridge and NE trees. Cool dawn start no wind, 25% cloud, valley cloud. Temps to 4 at treeline by noon with pinwheels and surface moistening even on completely non solar terrain. S/SE winds light with moderate gusts at ridgetop. Snow on N ridge surprisingly decent in quality - heavy powder with no surface crust, but that'll change after it cools off tonight. About 25cm above melt crust. Minor prior wind effect, but no active transport, and the surface quality of windward slopes won't make it amenable to transport anyways. Snow stable on steep convexities on N ridge - skied up to 40 degrees. Snow in NE trees very moist before noon, as it was catching tangential sun. Heavy, hard work turns. Beautiful day out!
