Quick report
Our group rode snowmobiles and explored the Tamarack Lake area and dug several snow pits; riding around Tamarack Lake was better than expected. The freeze curst noted yesterday was absent in shaded areas, and we observed wind transport of new snow. 2-4 inches of new snow had accumulated in the Tamarack Lake area by late afternoon. Snow pit tests focused on the January 2nd weak layer, which was reactive in all four snow pits today; we observed 1mm surface hoar crystals on the failed weak layer one snow pit location. No one in our group observed instability in new or recent snow while riding.
