Quick report
Around 7500ft, snow surface transitioned from a rain crust to cold snow. Above 7500’, we observed around 6” of new snow from today/last night with 1ft+ of more consolidated cold snow below that. At 8900’ on an E aspect, our pit showed a HS of about 164cm, new snow and decomposing fragments until about 97cm, a knife hard rain crust at 97cm and various sizes of rounded grains below that. We got an ECTN19 on a new snow/old snow interface in the upper snowpack. We did not experience any signs of instability today. Snow was accumulating all day and we observed mostly light winds with some moderate gusts and obvious wind transport on exposed ridges.
