Quick report
We observed 6-15 inches of right side up storm snow from the past week up to 5800' on Peagravel Ridge. We saw no signs of instability and the storm snow had not formed much of a slab yet in sheltered terrain. In steep terrain small dry loose avalanches would run on ski cuts but they did not have a lot of energy and weren't traveling very far. I dug a quick test pit at 5800' to see what the January drought layer was looking like. I didn't find any faceted snow on top of the melt-freeze crust but below it was a facet crust facet sandwich. Stability tests didn't show any results below the crust and the crust varied in thickness from ~2cms to 10cms over the course of the pit.
