Quick Observation

Skied on Parker ridge with a few other groups in the area today. Decent snow to TL in the morning 10cm powder over a hard slab. TL to the ridgeline was very hard wind scour until the upper 150m or so which had 5 to 10cm of snow in lee of the ridge. The little snow over the hardpan made for some decent turns high up and the light breeze and N aspect kept things fresh late into the day. By 2pm below treeline (2100m) and below had started to show signs of the heat. We dug a bit late in the day (430 pm) at 2070 m on a 37 degree west facing small convex roll that appeared to be in the lee of the tree cluster above. Likely the roll we tested was piled up from wind transport. Got a more interesting result than expected though. CT 18 and ECT 25 both failing on a 1mm thin crust 40cm down. Air temperature was 0 at time of test in the shade test was in the sun. Not sure if that crust is at higher elevations but the 30cm of hard slab on top of it sheared pretty clean when it did go.
