Quick Observation
Had a lovely time on my umpteeth young’s traverse. Quite icy low down, I used my ski crampons for a bit, but lots of people just struggled up. They were quite useful in some places, but I’m not sure if the extra effort was worth it. Snow turned wintery again once up on the glacier. The final skin up to the ridge is decent, thanks to the sucker who punched a new one today. Boot packing or ski crampons not required. We submitted around 1pm, and skied powder on the headwall, followed by wind affected and crust on the lower 7steps. Snow was slushy on the surface below the tree triangle all the way to the parking lot. Got back to the car by 220pm. I think we timed it fairly well, would not have wanted to be out much later. A variety of wet slides were seen on west and south aspect, of varying age. Heard, but did not see rockfalls.
