Spent Nov 7 & 8 in Haines Pass. The sustained strong winds on Nov 4 & 5 redistributed the storm snow from last weekend. Ridges and any exposed areas were scoured to the ground, and gullies held deep deposits at valley bottom. In the rare areas protected from the wind, the height of snow is 45cm and low density. Nov 7 was clear, cold (-13) and calm in the pass. Nov 8th brought warmer temps (-3), high winds from the South, and more wind transport. The variability in snow depth lends itself well to touring around on skis, but not so well to actual skiing.
