SSV and Healy are primed for action

bryan.daneau, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

Easy to mod results in all tests on low angle 25’slope (Wawa hump) - including ECT21 SP down about 65cm on the Nov crust at 2350m on SE aspect. RB 2 down same with a 140lbs trigger. Counted at least 3 size 2.5+ on on SW face of Bourgeau. Size 2.5 in one of the Healy peaks near the pass on E aspect. Big V and Healy avi paths 1-2 haven’t slabbed off yet so even Healy trail will be suspect for some time. We were hearing multiple avalanches over lunch break as sun came out. Lots of shear propagation on low angle 25’ terrain near the meadows and base of twin cairns. Dug a bit, poked around, then went back to ride the chairs. Might take a good cold spell before the top storm slab facets out ... really tough trail breaking - storm slab would sometime be supportive and other time you would simply punch through it to knee deep ski pen.
