Morfee Mountain

Ryan Shelly, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

Very warm day in Morfee ( +6 at the truck around 11am) Did a pit in Meadow Hill zone and found upper 50+ cms to be highly affected by warm trend. The surface of the snowpack holds a 6 inch thick melt freeze crust that supported a sled in reverse uphill! There are 2 rain/ice crusts farther down but still within the upper 50cms of the snowpack. Generally speaking the entire upper metre is a 1F resistant snowpack. South facing slopes showed a lot of sun effect on the mountainside- everything from dirt exposed aspects to point releases on southerly faces. North Faces still hold great snow but not much in the way of powder. Cornices are holding on in the Alpine and Lee loaded cross loaded slopes in the Alpine are still very much intact. No avalanche activity observed. Alpine above Benny's Bowl was zero degrees and lightly snowing. Great skiing right now off Benny's if anyones up for some sled laps! Hero Traction right now!
