Bald Hills corn and isothermal

<p>Took the advice of the forecast and played in some great non-avy terrain. Skins on at 6:30 and the road was solidly frozen (-4 at the lot). Forest around has a thin crust that broke into sugar. Climbed to a small bump near the top and had a quick breakfast while we waited for the sun to warm the snow. Did a great lap and then went to the shortcut to ski down the trees. Unfortunately the snow below 2000m at 10am was already trash and we wallowed for a while until we hit the road. Road was still mostly firm by 11am but I would not have liked to be the hikers starting out at that time without any flotation. Saw some pretty incredible whoomphs and snow collapses along the side of the road as we touched snow that wasn’t solidly frozen. Propagation of the crack would be 50m and the whole snowpack dropped. Probably felt about a dozen of these. That basal facet layer is super reactive. No signs of any natural avalanches on bald hills itself but lots on the mountains around. </p>
