Avalanche Information

This small avalanche was triggered after our second lap of this area. There was a slight convex roll onto a cross loaded wind crust. The surface broke like shattered glass and slowly ran about 40m. The trigger point was on the skier’s left flank about 10 m below the crown. Nobody was involved. The entire area had variable snow conditions. A CT test on a 35 degree slope in another area had no result on the January 27th layer which was 45cm below the surface. However, when preparing the column, the top 4cm wind crust slid without much disturbance over a faceted layer. The avalanche forecasters nailed the forecast that day based on our observations. Thanks Avalanche.ca for your great info!
