Quick Observation
Skied the Worm couloir today, overall positive conditions up there. Lower road is in tough shape for sledding, mud rocks and ice until about 700m. Side-hilled on a barely edge-able melt/freeze crust in the morning, on an E aspect at 1300, by the time we returned in the afternoon it was hot pow(corn chowder?) and we opted to stay in the trees for our skin track across. Rollerballs up to 2ft in diameter at the end of the day there. Traverse on N aspect below toboggan glacier was shiny hardpack at 1400m, thankfully the first bootpack on W aspect up to 1600m to reach the secondary glacier was softer, about 10cm boot penetration. Skinning the N aspect secondary glacier up to 2000m on was a mix of firm edge-able wind effect hardpack and slightly softer wind effected snow. Climbing the final slope we were pleased to find the snow getting better the higher we went. By the time we topped out at 2200 there was up to 10cm of sugary snow sitting on a supportive crust. It skied very well at the top half of the line and was particularly nice in the sheltered pinch halfway down. Two Bergshrungs to cross at the bottom of the couloir, upper one is significant in size.
