Seattle Ridge

Difficult trail breaking. Skied 2 laps between 1800'-2800' SE facing on Seattle Ridge. New snow was denser than expected, but high quality skiing for this time of year. CT 14 Q2 30cm 2500' SE facing in density change within new snow. Continued tapping yielded a CT 17 Q3 at 45cm in a density change. 115cm snow depth at this elevation. Some cracking in a 3 ft radius around skis in localized 100 ft elevation band while trail breaking in wind effected dense powder around 2300' SE facing. A party member triggered a small slab avalanche about 6' wide, full depth of new snow, which released between pre-existing ski tracks; unsupported slab. Did not run far. A party member triggered a whumpf at 2800' via boot when stepping out of their skis during a transition. Snow overall seemed to be least dense at lower elevations, and wind had varying effects depending on aspect in treeline and alpine. Sun crust developing on the most southerly aspects between 2000-2500'. 95cm of snow height in the parking lot 1000'.
