Quick Observation

Toured around the base of twin cairns in the SSV slack country to beat the crowds. Great snow on E and NE aspects with an HS of about 72cm. South-ish aspects were much thinner and less supportive (i.e. more rocks). Pit at 2325m on E aspect gave CTM12 SC down 45 on the Oct 26 crust with an HS of 72cm. Didn't do an ECT but felt like propagation wouldn't have been significant. No issues while skiing the E and NE aspects up to 30deg and convex rolls didn't trigger anything. However, LOTS of whumpfing on the flatter terrain on E aspect as we were traversing back to the resort at 2325m, especially where the wind had built up a slab overlying the crust. We took it mellow and the snow was actually wayyyyyy better than what they were skiing at the hill. Even got some whumpfing going down an uptrack that had seen a group of 10 skiers going up !
