Observation: Park City Ridgeline

Skiing ESE near Pointy Peak at 9200' today I could only think "springtime, already?" Snow depth was between two and three feet with a distinct supportable crust beneath the last storm deposit. I dug a couple hasty pits and didn't see any evidence of slabbing or connectivity. No facets were seen on top of the buried crust, but hey, at least plenty of new ones were forming on the surface. No other signs of instability were observed and the skiing was fast and loose and good enough to go back for seconds, but not thirds. Conveniently, winter was still happening just across the way on the low angle North aspect just south of Home Run. Plenty of creamy dry pow was there for the taking even after following a Cottonwoods-style superhighway of a skinner.

Even near the solstice the snow on ESE aspect was significantly sun effected by 11am.
