Quick report
Sun lit aspects near and below treeline quickly began to soften once the sun was high enough in the sky. Northerly aspects above treeline stayed firm. Areas in the woods were the most variable, holding both firm and soft snow due to shade cover.

High clouds aloft danced over the top of Mount Shasta, capping it in a standing wave of moister. Winds blew at moderate to strong speeds from the south and southeast. Temperatures rose to nearly 40 degrees over the course of the morning.
Snowpack
Almost everywhere experienced a superficial re-freeze last night, causing snow surfaces to be firm this morning. Surfaces loosened up as the morning mounted, and a boot penetration to the boot cuff was experienced several times on a southeast aspect near treeline. The top 15 cm (12") of surface snow was easily able to cause to move on a steep slope beneath a ridgeline.
