The incoming storm has timed later and later over the past 24 hours. I expected to be skiing dust on crust here today, but primarily found the former. Trace to ~2 inches of snowfall late in the day, and noted one old avalanche that appeared cornice-triggered on a neighboring ridge and likely over one week old. Winds increased steadily throughout the day from the west. The snow beneath a 2cm crust remains moist, with several layers of crusts within the top half of the snowpack formed from pooling water. Overall, these warming periods and infusion with some liquid water followed by cold storms are consolidating the snowpack well. My guess is that any sort of wet slab recipe will only set up here on a) on sunny days after new snowfall and remain within that new snowfall or b) weak snow near the base of the snowpack after days and nights of warm temperatures.
