- Cracking, Rapid Warming
On Saturday June 15,2019, two of us went to the top of the East Castle Ridge at Alta. By 10AM - 11AM, things were starting to get fairly wet. That face gets a lot of early morning sunshine from the East.
The cornice in the photo (and others like it) are looking pretty "droopy," and I also saw the beginnings of a glide crack forming just underneath one of the cornices. The combination of a cornice fall onto a glide crack could trigger a fairly large glide slide.
