Snowpack

Instability Comment

When initally digging the pit sugary faceted snow flowed like water back into the pit as it was shoveled and sheered away from the sideways. During a compression test I was surprised it took until tap #22 to cause a reaction. This false sense of security is something to keep in mind. During tranistions I easily triggered echoing collapses in each new area traveresed. Low angle riding conditions were great with a creamy powder layer in sheltered North facing terrain, South facing terrain apperas to be much thinner and in need of more snow.
