Great day skiing. Got to the Swan Crest early and experienced higher west winds and low visibility. The winds were strong enough for snow transport. There is a clear distinguishing layer between the new snow from Wednesday and Thursday, and the more settled earlier November/October snowpack. We did experience wind slabs on East and Northeast aspects and had small skier-triggered wind slab avalanches that were about 5 inches deep and propagated around 10 feet. 1st day back! Excited for a great winter. Wind Slabs from recent snow. No cracking or other signs of instability noticed.
