Quick report
On Hogback Mtn. we saw 270cm of snow @ 6000' on a NE aspect with a 1mm rime crust on the surface. 55cm down we observed a few small facets and a ECTN27 snow pack test result on this layer. We also dug a few other pits. One on a south facing slope on the Rubin glacier at 5378' and another on a NW aspect on the Shoup Glacier at 3884'- with no concerning test results in the top 100cm of the snowpack. On the 18th we dug a pit in the back of Browns Canyon at 3423' on a NE aspect which showed similar results. ECTN18 down 55cm. Our over all impression of the maritime zone snowpack- was good in the top 100cm with no concerning layers observed.
Avalanche
We observed two small (D1 to D1.5) avalanches that ran less than a week ago on a NW aspects on the Shoup Glacier on an unsupported slope.
